Orthodontic mini-implants, best known as TADs, are a relatively recent addition to the orthodontic armamentarium.

Orthodontists worldwide use them to correct bite problems that traditionally require jaw surgery; they are also used as anchors to support tooth movements that are thought to be challenging to accomplish by braces alone.

They are small titanium screws inserted under local anaesthesia. The discomfort during insertion is minimal. A day or two after the procedure, some minor pain may occur, requiring Panadol.

I am an experienced TADs user. I have used them for years to correct complex problems for many patients who were denied treatment elsewhere due to case difficulty or were only offered jaw surgery as a treatment option.

I routinely use TADs to save patients having costly dental restorations, such as implants, to replace missing teeth by closing difficult extraction spaces using braces and TADs. I also use TADs to correct gummy smile problems conventionally treated with surgery.

If you want to explore orthodontic treatment with TADs, please contact me to schedule a consultation.
